In french, “derrière” means “back”. and derrière is the back side – the complement – to my album Devant, a cassette released by La Cohu in October 2013. Both albums come from the same sessions, at home, January 2013.
Derrière is a 39-minute improvisation performed using only mixing desks with nothing plugged in them – just ins in the outs, recorded direct to disc. Yes, feedback. CONTROLLED feedback. It’s one heck of a ride, but obviously I couldn’t include it on Devant (which is also a feedback extravaganza) due to time limit considerations. I’m very glad it found a home here. Enjoy!
